Our 2011-2012 reading program is in full swing and as we read, our ice cream cone grows! Currently the fourth grade class is ahead, but other classes are close behind! The reading program ends in January…the class who reads the most chapter books will receive an all you can eat ice cream party!!!

Second through sixth grades just completed this year’s reading program, “The Great Gumball Challenge.” For each chapter book read, students filled out a gumball tracker and a gumball was placed in the giant gumball machine. Students who filled out a tracker AND blogged their chapter book received credit for TWO gumballs! With the promise of winning ALL of the gumballs in the giant gumball machine for their class, students eagerly read, tracked, and blogged. Congratulations to all of our wonderful readers at Cedar Park Christian School, Lynnwood Campus!
And the winner of the Great Gumball Challenge is……Fifth grade who read/blogged 144 books! Second place fourth grade who read/blogged 112 books, third place third grade who read/blogged 74 books, and fourth place second grade who read/blooged 63 books!
The Great Gumball Challenge!
Guess who’s turning thirty? Our library! This year our school library is turning thirty years old! In honor of students who “chews” to read as an everyday activity, this years reading program is excited to present “The Great Gumball Challenge”!!!
Beginning the first week of October students in grades 2 through 6 will show off their reading skills by filling out a gumball tracker each time they complete a book. Watch the gumball machine fill up as students add gumballs for each book they finish. Find out the January 27th which class gathered and received the most gum!!! Join us as we celebrate thirty years of reading!!!
